DecembeRadio Celebrate with U.S. Soldiers at Fort Jackson
GRAMMY® Nominees DecembeRadioCelebrate with U.S. Soldiers at Fort Jackson
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--June 23, 2010- DOVE Award-winning rock band and Slanted Records recording artists DecembeRadio performed recently at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, SC, for over 5,000 U.S. troops.
The band, performing as a tribute to the troops consisting largely of new basic training soldiers, played songs including their hit “Drifter,” “Satisfy Me,” “Be Alright,” their rendition of “Carry on My Wayward Son,” “Love Found Me,” “Everlasting God” and “Gasoline.” Following the performance, the band had a chance to visit with the soldiers, thanking them for what they do for the United States.
“As I stood on that stage and sang in the company of 5,000 US soldiers, I realized it really is good to know the One who watches over us all,” described band member Eric Miker. “We have sung our songs for many years, but to sing the same lyrics we sing all the time to a group of soldiers really had a different meaning. As we sang the words, ‘you got the world upon your shoulders’ from the song ‘Be Alright,’ it somehow felt "bigger." As we sang, ‘You're the defender of the weak, You comfort those in need,’ it meant something more. To be used by God to deliver a message of peace and hope to our country’s defenders was one of the highlights of my career.
“I am proud to be an American today. We often hear negativity in the press about our military system, and we sometimes forget these are real people. There were real fathers in that room Sunday who haven't seen their children in months…and real mothers in that room away from their families so they can finish school and provide for them…real patriotism and a sense of appreciation for what this country was founded on.”
Known since their inception for their LIVE stage performances, DecembeRadio’s debut LIVE recording (LIVE) combines high-energy performances from Faith Promise Church in Knoxville, TN; Franklin Graham’s Rock the River event in the Quad Cities; and Rock the River in the Twin Cities. The DVD also includes the band’s concept video for the radio single “Look for Me” and introduces a brand new video for the barn-burning rocker “Gasoline.” In addition, the video includes candid b-roll of the band on the road and at home.
“We wanted to include some behind-the-scenes, fun stuff for our fans,” says lead guitarist Brian Bunn. “While the performances are certainly the primary focus of the release, we wanted to share some of our lives with those who have supported us and give them something they can’t find anywhere else.”
Distributed by EMI CMG Distribution, the LIVE CD and DVD are sold separately. The products, available at retailers everywhere, contain some of the band’s most popular hits including “Drifter,” “Love Found Me” and “Find You Waiting.” The LIVE CD is also available at online retail.
“We have always wanted to be an exciting band LIVE,” describes lead singer and bass player Josh Reedy. “When we get on stage, we feel the energy of the crowd and it moves us. We hope this DVD will translate what people experience when they see us live so that they can take us home with them.”
DecembeRadio--Since their self-titled debut hit the shelves in June of 2006, DecembeRadio has received a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Rock or Rap Album, taken home two GMA DOVE Awards for Rock Album of the Year for their first two releases, been recognized consistently in BILLBOARD Magazine, toured alongside artists including Third Day and NewSong, headlined multiple tours and partnered with Compassion International, a relief organization helping impoverished nations worldwide.
